Quad bikes are fascinating and inspiring vehicles: they capture the imagination because they stubbornly resist pigeonholing. They are neither motorbikes, cars nor buggies, but something quirky yet useful in-between. Farmer shortlisted for novel quad bike accessory

A farmer based in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, has been shortlisted for the Shell Live Wire young entrepreneur of the year award. William Allingham, from Garrison, has devised a remarkable product called the Quadcrate. The Quadcrate provides a means for Mr. Allingham to carry his lambs around the farm in a crate attached to his quad bike.

Quad Bike stolen from Castle Howard

Castle Howard, the stately home in North Yorkshire, and famous for its role in the TV series Brideshead Revisited, recently experienced a theft on the estate, where valuables worth around £16,000 were stolen. These included a quad bike. This incident, experienced by one high-profile residence, is by no means an isolated occurrence: quad bike theft is on the rise, especially in rural communities. Quad bike safety – always a high priority

Whether a quad bike is used for work or leisure, safety is always paramount. In fact the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is seeking to raise awareness of this issue, particularly amongst farmers. In June of this year inspectors made unscheduled instructional visits, to farms in parts of Scotland, to make sure that farmers were complying with quad bike safety standards. Tracking device foils quad bike thieves

Thieves got much more than they bargained for when they broke into the wrong shop to steal an all-terrain vehicle; the criminals were unaware that the company they stole it from specialised in security tracking devices for vehicles, and one was inside the quad bike.
