Quad bike ride fundraiser for children’s charity

A farmer from the Ford area is putting his love of quad bikes to good use in a fund raising challenge that will take him from John O’ Groats to Land’s End. Mr Bailey, along with two friends, plan to ride their quad bikes as much as possible off road to raise money for children’s cancer charities.

Shortage of new quad bikes may hit farmers

With Japan being hit hard recently by an earthquake, manufacturers may be struggling when it comes to finding parts for quad bikes, this might leave farmers struggling. The marketing manager of Blue Wing Honda Group said that supplies of engine parts for Honda quad bikes may been disrupted due to airports, factories and ports suffering damage from the recent earthquake.

Quad bikes used in Afghanistan help soldiers win military accolades

The Lancashire Telegraph reported on 26th March 2011 that two Lancashire soldiers serving in Afghanistan have been awarded military accolades for heroism on duty. The soldiers took to quad bikes, putting their lives at risk, to save colleagues following an attack on the squad.

While they remained under threat, one of the soldiers used an ATV to drive to a civilian vehicle holding several injured people. The vehicle had been caught up in the attack on the soldiers, among them women and small children. While still at risk of (more…)
