A farmer from the Ford area is putting his love of quad bikes to good use in a fund raising challenge that will take him from John O’ Groats to Land’s End. Mr Bailey, along with two friends, plan to ride their quad bikes as much as possible off road to raise money for children’s cancer charities.
The three friends are all well-known members in the farming community and have been given three brand new ATVs, courtesy of Polaris UK. The trip was thought up following the death of Mr Bailey’s son, who sadly passed away from cancer at just thirteen years old. The trio will be using the quad bikes all the way. The idea of the adventure, during the planning stage, brought a great deal of happiness to the thirteen year old.
The threesome plan to make good use of the fact that quad bikes are at their best when off the road and they plan on covering as much distance as possible over rough terrain. They start the trip by heading towards the west coast of Scotland over some of the roughest mountain passes imaginable. Their trip will then take them through the Lake District and Peak District, both areas excellent for riding quads, before going onto Salisbury Plain and Dartmoor.
The quad bike enthusiasts will make many stops along the way for donations for the charity Children’s Cancer and Leukemia Group, along with CLIC Sargent and the Piam Brown Ward, which is located at the Southampton General Hospital. They are hoping to raise a total of £15,000. Watch out for them in your area and donate.
