Chipping Norton will put new ATV snow plough to good use

Chipping Norton is well prepared for the snow as its council has two new additions to its task force by way of ATV snow clearing equipment.

An ATV snow plough makes short work of snow removal and the snow fleet acquired two of them before the first snowfall of last week.

The team launched the snow plan last winter and the committee now has over 20 volunteers. These include snow wardens who will help to pitch in and distribute salt when the snow falls.

The two Honda ATVs each have snow ploughs fitted to them, along with salt spreaders at the rear of the vehicles. The two quads have been leased to the council to ensure that Chipping Norton is able to cover the region and keep residents safe.

Along with the ATV snow clearing equipment, Chipping Norton has prepared with over 50 grit bins, 20 new snow shovels and five walking spreaders. The response unit was formed following the heavy snow of last year. A councillor said that a new ATV snow plough would be situated at the end of each main road, so the team would be ready to go into action with only 10 minutes’ notice.

Warwickshire council is getting ready for snowfall with four snow blowers prepared in certain locations around the county, allowing the highway teams deal with extreme conditions.

If the weathermen are right with their predictions for this week, the councils could be kept busy as heavy snowfall has been predicted around the UK.
