Young people from around the coast of the U.S. have been acknowledged for their safety initiatives and responsible thoughts on quad bike riding by having their videos put online by the ATV Safety Institute. They teamed up with the Right Rider Access Fund and the dirt bike school of MSF.
The competition was very popular and the judges had a hard time choosing the winners due to the sheer number of entries from young quad-riding fans around the nation. All of the entries were based on highlighting the safety rules associated with ATV riding, along with tips promoted by the dirt bike school.
The Grand prize of $2,500 was won by Oklahoma teenager David Atkins. Fellow competitor Elizabeth Clump took the first prize in the category for ages 11 – 14.
Atkins said he was thrilled to have won and went on to say that he was glad that he was able to promote safety when riding quad bikes. He hoped that adults would watch the video and understand just how important it is to wear the right gear when out riding on quad bikes. This is equally important whether they are race quads or farm quads.
The contest was entitled ‘Do the Ride Thing’ and featured categories for three different age groups and entries for two groups – quad bikes and dirt bikes.
Along with Atkins and Clump, the winner of the ATV first prize of 500 went to Jordan Smith of Oklahoma in the aged 6 – 10 category. In the 15 – 18 category for the ATV, the first prize went to Eric Beets, along with Brian Freiesleben of Burlington, Wisconsin.
