The Yamaha Motor Corporation in the USA is celebrating what turned out to be a historic weekend at the Ironman Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) race event in California. Traci Cecco-Pickens has been with Yamaha for some time and is also an icon of GNCC. She made ATV race history when she took her 9th women’s title in the ATV series and then went on to announce her retirement.
She said that the 9th championship was very special and it will be her most memorable ride as it would also be her last championship title race. Traci went on to say that with 9 wins under her belt she thought it time to retire from chasing championship wins and will now support her husband in his racing career.
Traci said that she would not be leaving ATV racing entirely, as it such was a large part of her life, but that she bwould be getting her fix in different ways. This could be in relation to representing long time sponsors or even mentoring upcoming ladies who want to race.
Cecco was able to take the much coveted 9th win on 6th October in Ohio and has earned herself the title of being the best female ATV racer in the history of quad bike racing. The ATV racing coordinator for Yamaha said that throughout her time with Yamaha, Traci had been a role model, inspiration and champion and had broken down the barriers women often feel are up against them on the race quad circuit.
