The Great 8 Quad Bike Festival is starting to come together, and expects to see riders from across the UK converge at Hannington, near Basingstoke, Hampshire, in August to celebrate all things quad bike.
The festival, organised by the Quad Racing Association UK, is scheduled to take place from Friday the 27th through to Monday 31st August, and features a new four hour Youth Great 8 event, which is open to riders aged between 12 and 16 on production model all-terrain vehicles. The regulations will include vehicle classes and how teams will be made up, but it is thought it will be either two riders to one quad bike, or two riders with two ATVs.
The Quad Racing Association has been working hard behind the scenes to get sponsors on board for the event, and Tony Nash, organiser, has reported that they expect some big news regarding sponsorship within the next several days. Speculation is rife that a major all-terrain vehicle manufacturer is set to get involved in an effort to promote the sport – rumours abound whether it will be a manufacturer such as Honda.
The event is intended to welcome quad bike riders of all abilities, and although there will be competitive racing, the focus is firmly on a weekend of fun for the family.
Highlights of the weekend include:
A youth ‘Beautiful Quad’ competition
A ‘Beat the Bull’ challenge
A Side by side UTV event
Mountain bike racing with youth, ladies’ and adult classes
A fancy dress competition
A Sunday evening hog roast
A Great 8 clay shooting competition
A press photo call
Arrangements for the event should be finalised by August 1st.
