Paul Holmes has bossed a thrilling Fifth Round in the ACU British Quadcross Championships. The round was held on August 26 during the Ken Hall Trophy weekend at one of the most demanding circuits, Langrish, where fans gathered around the quad bike tracks to witness some superb racing.
The Manor Farm race circuit offered perfect conditions and Holmes came in fastest, with Connor Smith just 1.13 seconds behind him. David Cowan, along with Justin Reid, Leon Rogers and Luke Cooper, all finished the quad bike race inside the fastest lap time of three seconds. All riders gave thrilling performances which entertained the large crowd.
Rogers, who is just 16 years of age, was in lead as the quad bikes reached the first corner. Sam Bryan then overtook before spinning off on lap two and allowing Holmes to come back. Holmes then pulled away and left the pack chasing him. Cooper managed to hold onto second place until halfway through the race before losing control and coming off his ATV when trying to overtake one of the back markers. Cooper got back on and continued the race, fighting Reid all the way in the battle for fourth and fifth place. Nobody stood a chance of catching Holmes, which left the other riders contending for second place. Rogers enjoyed an outstanding race, fully aware that Smith was never far behind.
Yesterday, September 2, saw Round Six taking place in Cumbria at one of the fastest paced tracks of the event, with views of the Lake District providing a stunning backdrop to the penultimate round of the quad bike racing event.
