A quad bike event has helped to raise more than $25,000 for a children’s hospital in Louisiana in the USA. This is the 5th year running that Applebee’s and High Lifter Products have teamed up to host the mud bike event.
The 2012 event drew one of the largest crowds yet, with around 900 quad bike riders turning up to take part. The event focused on a day riding quad bikes on mud tracks for ATV use. Scott Smith from High Lifter said that all of the money raised by the event would go to the Shriners Hospital, which is for children.
The quad bike event set new records not only in the amount of money raised, but also toys. Over $25,000 was raised thanks to admission, the sales of raffle tickets, donations and an all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes. Prizes for the raffle came courtesy of Polaris who donated a Ranger 2013 900 XP, while a local grill and bar, Applebee’s, donated coupons which were worth around $7,300.
Members from the hospital attended the event to accept the donation. The event has become one of the hospital’s largest fund raisers and members were delighted at the record donation. The hosts of the event have already started to plan the ride for 2013, which is to take place on 7th December 2013.
The hospital has 22 facilities which, since 1922, have been providing specialist paediatric care, helping children who suffer from burns, spinal injuries and orthopaedic conditions.
