Stuston has once again enjoyed grass track racing when the Woodbridge and District Motorcycle Club held its latest meeting. The event saw 80 riders attend on adapted motorcycles, along with side cars and quad bikes. Some of the competitors came to the event from across all parts of the country.
The track racing event is home to a number of different classes. These range from engine sizes of 250cc to 500cc, along with junior race quad events. Although competitors in the race are members of clubs scattered throughout the country, at the event they race as individuals to collect the points needed for individual championships.
There was some success locally at the event, when Adam Shipp from Roydon won the 250cc category and a youngster from Diss, Charlie Brooks, took first place in the junior race.
The event was organised by the Woodbridge and District Motorcycle Club along with Kelly Shipp, who said there were twice as many spectators as there were at the last event. The weather was kind and not too wet, which made for a good track.
The next race meeting is to be held by the club in Iken, Suffolk, on 29th June, and will be for the Eastern Centre Championship. The event will also include the Barry Shipp memorial Cup, which is held in memory of Barry Shipp. Mr Shipp was a well-known figure in regards to grass track racing and has passed away. The Woodbridge and District Motorcycle Club is said to be donating a cup and each year they will hold a special meeting in remembrance of Mr Shipp.
