Young Emma Nathaniel is following in the footsteps of Lord Alan Sugar by turning just £10 into £768 and then handing the money she raised over to the homeless. The seven-year-old was given the £10 stake money and encouraged to invest it by St Peters Church as part of the campaign ‘Grow It’.
Emma came up with the idea of holding a charity day at her home in East Grinstead, West Sussex and chose to have events which included quad bike rides, swimming, a bouncy castle and face painting, among other things.
She chose to use the £10 to purchase petrol to power the quad bike and then raised further cash by charging people for entry into the event. The money made on the day was then donated to the Safehaven charity, which is run by St Peters Church and helps to buy meals for more than 100 homeless people every week.
The curator of the church said that Emma had done very well from her idea and went on to praise her for giving the money away to charity. John Campbell was one of the people who attended the quad service and said that the quad rides ensured a fun day was had by all attending. The weather was also kind, which helped, and Emma worked for many hours on the day of the event.
The founder of Grow It, Chris Lomas, said that the youngster should be an inspiration to everyone, thanks to her positive attitude and the impact that she had had on homeless people in the Brighton region.
