Two sisters with a passion for motocross and quad bikes, who have been pursuing success on the motocross track, can continue on with their training after their family defeated objections regarding jumps installed on land at their home. If they had been overruled by the objection and not been granted permission, the girls may have had to give up a sport they have come to love.
Current British girls champion Hannah Pickersgill, 12, and sister Kyra, 14, have been in competition throughout the country for several years. In 2010, permission was given for wheeled activity on their land. The fun loving pair thought that their sport may be put on hold when they were then asked to make an application for jumps, after residents feared a motocross track was being built on the land.
Fortunately for the sisters, planning permission was granted after authorities understood their situation and realised that the track and jumps were solely for use by the girls to train and ride on. If permission had not been granted the jumps would have had to be taken out at a cost of around £1, 500. The girls’ father is a former Welsh motocross champion and the girls have been brought up around motocross. While waiting for the permission their practices and training were put on hold, but now they have it they are revving up their training schedule. Mum said that both girls had their father’s love of speed and adrenaline rushes, and told of the two sisters racing against boys and having a great deal of success in competitions.
