Lucky residents will be having a weekend of fun on the sands of Swansea this October thanks to a major race on the beach which was estimated to attract thousands of spectators.
The Weston Beach Race will take place over a weekend on the beach from the Civic Centre to the university and featured competitors from around the globe along with riders from the Swansea area. The event has been held over the last three decades on Weston Super Mares sands but this year the organisers have decided to bring the event to Swansea. Swansea bay is the perfect area, thanks to the superb stretch of beach, to hold the event which will feature quad bikes along with motocross bikes and bikes and side-cars.
The course has been designed over 6,000 metres and provides a fantastic area for spectators. Amateurs are able to mix with professionals of the very best in the world. There will be junior quad bikes races and as always freestyle demonstrations, which draw in the crowds. The three day event is to take place Friday October 7th through to Sunday 9th and promises to be a great family day out.
The headline is to be a three hour race which is gruelling on those taking part and there will be plenty to do throughout the event thanks to a wide range of attractions. Some well known names have already signed up to take part including a former world champion winner of the Le Tourquest beach race which is held in France. Another famous face taking part is Paul Winrow, a leading quad bike rider. The event is tipped to be one of the largest festivals for off road bikes in the UK.
