The new quad bike and motocross park being created in Ellesmere Port is well under way. The new park is a community based project and when it is complete it will contain two practice tracks, which will be excellent for those just starting out along with the more experienced quad riders. There will also be a training circle.
The BASE Motopark team in the area have been working very closely with schools throughout the area and will provide incentives for those in school. The in-school scheme for rewards and engagement programme aims to provide an incentive to all children to work hard in school and focus. The scheme consists of points which will be awarded for progress and can then be used on the track. It is hoped that the new park will help to tackle the truancy in the areas and encourage pupils to attend school on a regular basis so they are then able to become members and use the quad and motocross park.
There are also plans to set up a volunteer programme in the park. Children will be able to work in the park, spend time there taking part in tasks, which include cleaning up the car park, marshalling at the track and many other small jobs which will reward them with free training in the park.
It seems like Ellesmere Port is on to a winner. While the majority of quad bike riders are responsible, there are some who take quads onto the streets with very little or no safety equipment. The quad park will mean that these small groups have somewhere to go away from the streets.
