The UAE has played host to the Arab Motocross Championship for the first time and Mohammed Al Balooshi took the title on his home ground. The pro rider had won the race many times before in other countries.

The Motocross Championship of 2012 was the first in the competitive racing series of the Arab Motorcycle Federation (AMF) since it went through an overhaul in August. Blooshi took part in the MX1 division’s top tier and came in first place in both of the races he took part in.

He went around the 1,600 meter track of 11 laps in 21 minutes and 55 seconds during the first of his two races.

After the race, Balooshi said that it was a wonderful feeling having won the Championship on his home soil. He hoped that his win would encourage others in the Emirates to enjoy the sport.

The race saw numerous top riders taking part from over eight countries in the Middle East in the MX1 and 2 categories, along with the pro race quads.

Balooshi is one of the leading riders in the region alongside Mansoor Salem who won both of the races in the pro quad category on his race ATV. He won his first race in just 14 minutes and 31 seconds.

In the MX2 category, it was Mohammed Jafar from Kuwait who took first place, thanks to a superb ride in both of his races. The first race was taken in 22 minutes and 31 seconds.
