A school student has amazed the judges at his regional engineering fair in North Devon with his invention for lifting quad bikes easily. The youngster came out top in three different categories in the fair which was hosted by Exeter University entitled Big Bang.
The youngest went on to beat more than 50 other schools which gathered from all over the South West. He admitted to loving anything to do with motorsports, especially quad bikes, and devised a way to life quad bikes very easily, which comes in handy when the vehicle needs maintenance or when it needs to go onto the back of a truck. The student is currently studying building as a future career, but following the win and awards, he is considering altering courses and going into engineering in the future. His teacher said that he had worked continually and hard on the project to ensure the perfection of the design which is part of his Technology GCSE.
The student took the titles of Young Technologist for the Best Marketable Product along with the Best GCSE Resistant Materials Project. He also won the South West Young Engineer for Britain.
Judges and individuals were pleased by the quality of the invention which is very professional looking and which it is thought may save people 30 seconds when lifting up a quad bike, in comparison to similar models already on the market. The wins mean that the youngster will now automatically go through to the Birmingham British final next year.
