As motorsport fans in the UK gear up for the 2011 Formula One Santander British Grand Prix being held at Silverstone, it has been revealed that Honda quads are behind many of the crucial tasks being carried out in order to prepare the track.
When Jason Button is tearing around the Grand Prix circuit there is actually another four wheeled vehicle behind the scenes during a very important job. Quad bikes are being used to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day.
In total, nine Honda ATVs are being used and driven by Silverstone staff undertaking numerous crucial tasks when the famous race comes to the UK in July 2011. With the date coming ever closer the quad bikes are at the moment being used to tow a large paint sprayer around the track, repainting the barriers and the tyre banks. They will also be used to get the get the huge fuel bowser around the paddock which tops up the team’s generators.
One of the advantages of the ATVs is their superb manoeuvrability. They are essential in enabling security teams to do their job and making fence runs around the perimeter of the track over the weekend of the race. Staff are reported to have said that Honda quad bikes were ‘reliable and powerful’, which is vital to the smooth running of any event where millions of people the world over will be watching. They are also used at many other events in the UK such as the World Superbikes, World Touring Cars and Silverstone Classic.
