Heartless theft could mean end of business

Heartless thieves may have put an end to a small quad bike business just 7 months after it opened its doors after they stole all of the quad bikes and equipment. The Wild Tracks Off Road Activity Park in Billericay provided off road biking events to children, cooperate clients and adults.

Manager of the business, Chris Thorpe, was devastated when he arrived to open the doors of the warehouse where the quad bikes were secured every night to find all of the bikes missing. Mr Thorpe had been unable to afford the massive premiums for contents insurance when opening the business and fears the loss of equipment may mean he will have to shut down before Christmas.

It is thought thieves made their way onto the premises through woodland and then cut their way through fencing and locks before then making off with ten quad bikes which included seven quads for adults for three for children. The bold thieves then searched for the keys for the quads and drove them off the premises. Mr Thorpe and the police are asking for anyone with any information to come forward in the hope that they bikes can be found. The company is also offering a reward of £2,500.

It is thought that the thieves may try to sell the quad bikes inexpensively with the run up to Christmas. However the bikes are very distinctive so people may be able to spot them and police are asking anyone who sees second hand quad bikes for sale in the area or who is approached with the offer of a cheap quad bike to contact them.
