Dubai has always been known for being a place of adventure and thrills and residents and holiday makers enjoy quad biking in the desert. Companies and hotels now offer desert treks on bikes for holidaymakers. Recently quad bike residents and owners were thrilled when they got the chance to purchase unique number plates for their quad bikes in an auction held online by the Roads and Transport Authority.
One of the first numbers that received a great deal of attention and bidding was the binary number 69. This number fetched a top rate of Dh 49,000. This was the eighth auction to be held by the agency which attracted around 112 participants all of which vied for the quad bike binary plates. With cooler weather in Dubai approaching more and more quad bikers are taking to the sands practising and riding on the desert terrain is one the rise with tourists.
Other numbers besides 69 that attracted a great of attention in the online auction included the number 100 which sold for Dh 46,000, and the number 33 which went for Dh 38,000. In total around 350 of the prestigious plates were auctioned, all being comprised of four and five digit numbers with different codes for ATVs and vehicles. A total of Dh 2,393,900 was raised from the October auction which was a great success over previous online auctions. The Roads and Transport Authority said the auctions have been so successful with many residents of Dubai wanting to own distinguished numbers that they plan on holding another auction in December.
