Blur star gives up a rock star lifestyle for farm life

Blur member Alex James gave up the life of a rock star to spend his days on the farm tending cattle and sheep on a farm quad. Life changed drastically when the Blur member married his girlfriend and while on honeymoon purchased a farm.

James bought the remote farm in the Cotswolds to live the quiet life after spending the majority of his life in the West End. He swapped the red carpet and celebrity lifestyle to spend his time cleaning out the pigsty and going around his newly acquired land on a quad bike. The former star admits that he feels grounded in the real world when he is standing in pig muck and likes nothing better than looking after the chickens and collecting eggs. This is a far cry from the days when he was more at home in the Groucho club after a night on the stage in front of thousands of adoring fans.

However, his introduction into farming did not go as smoothly as he thought it might. Farm quads are the transport regularly used for getting around farms and these are tougher to drive than sports cars, as Alex soon found out. At first he could not get to grips with the gears, which he kept jamming. Alex found the farm quad hard to handle initially, even on flat ground. The gardener even drove the quad into the greenhouse and knocked it over! The Blur star has now settled down on the farm and his family is expanding along with his skills in quad biking.
