ATV race to become an annual event

Weymouth beach is set to become home to a new race quad event. The race is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Motocross Championships. Weymouth will add the Big Quad Bike Weekend to the events programme, which is all set to take place for the first time ever this February.

The race ATV event will attract riders of all ages from around the globe, who will flock to the region to take part in races on the sand. Funds will also be raised for the Air ambulance in the Dorset and Somerset regions.

Spectators will be able to view the races from the promenade free of charge, including a youth motorbike race, buggy racing and some top-of-the-class quad bike races. The organiser behind the event, ORE Events, hopes that the action will bring it large crowds. This could be a boost to the town in the off-peak season and it is hoped that it will be as successful as the Motocross event, which is held in October.

A spokesman said on behalf of ORE Events that the beach race would take place annually on the weekend closest to 9th and 10th of February. Riders aged between 6 and 72 will take part and will have travelled to the region from all around the UK. Many international riders are also set to get involved.

It is hoped that the event will encourage visitors to the region at a time when Weymouth is generally quiet.
