Quad bike racing is sometimes associated with thrilling offroad challenges on the beaches of the UK coastline, or deep in the countryside. The events take place in all weathers, and competitors used to rain, wind, mud, and even occasionally some sunshine.
However, these enthusiasts may be surprised and delighted to hear that quad bike racing is now taking a firm hold as far afield as India.
This weekend, Kikar Lodge, a remote venue in the foothills of the Shivalik mountain range in the Himalayas, will be host to “Quadrush 2010”. Kikar Lodge, usually a holiday retreat for nature lovers, will certainly be a noisier than usual on the 27th November. The organisers claim that this is of the first quad bike challenge events to take place in India.
Riders will be joining the event, from all over India, including Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The event, licensed by the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMCI), is effectively taking place in a wilderness region, so there will be plenty of diverse terrain to cover, including sand, dirt, water, and forest.
This event is a real testament to the growing, and increasingly global, popularity of quad bike racing and timed events.
Here in the UK, quad bike retailers are well aware of this popularity, and stock an increasingly wide range of racing quad bikes, including both new and secondhand quad bikes. They will also be able to provide you with accessories to enhance both your safety and your enjoyment of the racing.
