Anyone with a passion for racing quad bikes over the beach will know that the BXUK Beach Cross championship races are to be held this summer. The championships are to be held over a total of six rounds which will be spread out over three weekends and take place on three different beaches.
The championships have already started with the first two rounds being held in Margate in March. Riders then have to wait until June before heading over to Lincolnshire where the extremely popular race at the beach of Ingoldmells takes place. This race will be for rounds three, four and the Goldrush and take place over June 23rd and 24th. The races will then end in Kent with the Ramsgate Beach Cross. The final date for this race has yet to be determined but it is thought that it will either be the 21st, 22nd, 27th or the 28th October.
Last year’s Beach Cross championships were very popular among race quad owners with competitors taking part from all over the United Kingdom and Europe. Classes taking part in the championships included Youths, Elite, Open MX and Quad. All competitors vie to take the crown of the Beach Cross champion and this year those driving in the mini bike category found it hard work in Ramsgate thanks to wet sand that had been compacted. Even so the weekend was enjoyed by both riders of race quads and spectators alike. With the summer being predicted to be a scorcher there are likely to be hundreds of fans turning up at the races in Ingoldmells and Ramsgate.
